There’s a Pipe Organ Inside This Soulard Mansion Known as the Lion House [PHOTOS]

We’ve always wondered what it looked like on the inside of the “Lion House” in Soulard, but we never imagined that it was quite this grand.

Locals call it the Lion House because of the two large carved limestone lions guarding the front of the house, but its real name is the Max Feuerbacher Mansion, named after its original owner who was a German-born beer baron and founder of the Green Tree Brewery. (Feuerbacher came to the United States in 1852 and made a name for himself in St. Louis’ competitive beer scene. He now rests in Bellefontaine Cemetery.)

Now, instead of just trying to peek in the windows as we walk by, we can actually get a good look inside because the Lion House is up for sale. And, wow, there is a lot to see on the interior of this beauty.

In addition to the three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, the 5,837 square foot home also has an entire freakin’ pipe organ inside. The home also includes gorgeous historic details like marble fireplaces, medallions, moldings, chandeliers and a large cupola on the third floor.

The basement includes two vaulted wine cellars and what the realtor describes as a "supposed entrance" to the Cherokee cave system, where Feuerbacher stored his brews back in the day.
