St. Louisans flocked to Tower Grove Park over the weekend in support of Taste of Black St. Louis — a festival celebrating local black chefs, entrepreneurs and more. This was the inaugural year of what will hopefully be an annual event.

Organizers estimated that more than 7,000 attendees stopped in on Saturday. Generator-powered food booths were manned by black-owned restaurants eager to serve the extensive lines gathered at each. "I've sold a lot of stuff today," said storeowner Arrie'Anna Palmer.

After eating, many families gathered on blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the pleasant weather and socialize. DJ Boogie Corleone got groups dancing as the day went on.

"This was awesome for the first year," said chef Jon Enlow-Batchman. "Great weather, great crowd. We need some positivity in St. Louis and we're getting it right now."
