Last night's Halloween party in the Central West End drew revelers from across St. Louis -- and also, initially, a coterie of protesters reacting to the acquittal of former St. Louis officer Jason Stockley, marking seven weeks of protest since the verdict. Around 6:30 p.m., the group chanted loudly, nearly drowning out the DJ performing, and also visited some vendors, confronting patrons in the process. A handful of police officers kept a watchful eye, but the protest wrapped up by 7:30 p.m. -- just in time for the party to get started in earnest.
Photographer Theo Welling was there and captured the occasionally tense scene. Check back at www.riverfronttimes.com tomorrow for a full gallery of party pics.
