The RFT's third annual Mac & Cheese Throwdown drew restaurants from across the metro area to Union Station on Saturday, with heavyweights from Beast Craft BBQ to the Stellar Hog to Southern vying to prove that their signature noodles-and-cheese dish was the best. Once again, attendees tried portions from restaurants across town while downing cocktails made with Smirnoff, Don Julio and Crown Royal and then voting with their tokens for one lucky winner. And once again, for the second consecutive year, Salt + Smoke claimed the prize. As such, the homegrown barbecue juggernaut gets the coveted Mac & Cheese Throwdown STL winner's belt -- not to mention bragging rights for the entire year.
