Stray Rescue is hosting a very important art show and auction this weekend called Urban Wanderers. The event will have more than 90 pieces of original, locally-made art available to purchase and 100 percent of the proceeds go to Stray Rescue's
medical emergency fund.
These works of art capture the spirit of various local canines. Check out the art painted by a pup named Northern Star (using his own paws!) and enjoy Marnie Claunch's depiction of doggie Rupert. His back two legs are paralyzed and he uses a wheel harness, so she painted him as a merdog.
This is Stray Rescue's 20th year in the animal-saving game and the organization rescues more than just dogs and cats. The horses, the goat and the pig featured here are all currently kickin' it at
Randy's Rescue Ranch in O'Fallon, Illinois.
The Urban Wanderers event goes from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Four Seasons Hotel (999 North Second Street;
www.strayrescue.org/uw, on the eighth floor Skybar). There will be free hors d'oeuvres and appetizers and admission is free.
