This weekend, the Missouri Botanical Garden hosts
its annual orchid show, displaying some of the 7,000 beauties in its collection, which also encompasses 3,202 species. Digital artist
Dan Wampler got into the garden early for a sneak peek and shot these glorious specimens using
Life Pixel Infrared, the world leader in infrared conversions. (Wampler also serves as the company's creative director.) Infrared photography utilizes a key portion of the light spectrum that the human eye can't see -- creating ghostly, gorgeous images.
For more about Wampler, check out his
Facebook page or take a look at the
workshops he's teaching. For more on the orchids, the show is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (February 6 to March 27) at the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; 314-577-9400 or
www.mobot.org). Tickets are $5, in addition to regular garden admission ($4 to $8).
