Aaron McFarlane and Joe Dixon had good union jobs pouring concrete, but they weren’t satisfied. As food lovers, they had a dream of opening their own restaurant. When a space opened up on Forest Park Avenue, they moved in. Serving up classic barbecue, Dixon Smoke Company offers plates and sandwiches heaping with pulled pork, brisket, pulled chicken, rib tips and burnt ends from a wood-fired smoker — the only all-wood one in Missouri.
