15 Dog-Friendly Places in St. Louis to Take Your Pup

So the Post-Dispatch had to spoil all the fun at Urban Chestnut, getting dogs banned from the breweries' two locations with a bizarre column suggesting that stray dog pee might somehow land on a french fry. (Say wha?) But St. Louis is still packed with great places to take your fur baby, so don't cry over that spilled beer. Instead, take a look at this list, grab the leash and then get out of the house. You and your furry friend have a bucket list for the summer.

CityGarden
801 Market St.
St. Louis, MO 63101

CityGarden is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon and a great change of location for your dog’s typical walk. Let’s be honest, many a dog has peed on those art sculptures your kids climb on. Your dog shouldn’t be left out if he wants to leave his mark (or just run through the fountains). Photo courtesy of Flickr / Shelley Powers.

Ellen Clark Sculpture Park
300 N. Grand Blvd.
Saint Louis, MO 63103
This little park by St. Louis University was never officially declared a dog park -- but that hasn’t stopped dog owners from enjoying this free spot in Grand Center for years. There are picnic tables for you, plenty of space for your pup to romp and a baggy dispenser -- and the art sculptures are even coated with paint that protects against urine. You can read more about the history of the park in this St. Louis Post-Dispatch article. Photo courtesy of Instagram / sirtitustheboxer.

Left Bank Books
399 N. Euclid Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63108

Yes, your dog can accompany you to this favorite local bookstore in the Central West End. And no, we do not encourage you to attempt to force a friendship between your dog and the store cat, Spike, as it is guaranteed not to end well. But with two floors and many shelves of books to wander, you should do just fine sharing your love of books with your best friend. Photo by Harlan McCarthy.
