Transgender Lives Honored at Vigil in the Grove

Marking the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, around 60 people gathered Monday at the Transgender Memorial Garden in the Grove to honor the lives of 25 trans people killed in the U.S. in 2017. Two of those deaths occurred in Missouri: Kiwi Herring, who was shot by police in August, and Ally Steinfeld, who was stabbed to death. After gathering in the garden, participants lit candles and listened to memorials. The crowd's quiet reflection gave way to protest following the speeches, and the group marched from the garden through the Grove.

The RFT's Danny Wicentowski was there to capture the event.
