At the Cardinals’ First-Ever Pride Night, St. Louis Pushed Back Against Hate

Westboro Baptist Church showed up to protest the St. Louis Cardinals' first-ever Pride Night -- but love beat out hate as a large counter-protest dwarfed the Kansas hate-mongers' contingent. Protesters also chanted at police, shouting "Black Trans Lives Matter" in memory of  Kiwi Herring, a trans woman killed in a police shooting earlier this week.

LGBTQ fans then poured into the stadium for a game versus the Tampa Bay Rays. Alas, victory was not to be -- the Rays took the Redbirds, 7 to 3.

Photographer Nick Schnelle was there to capture the action.
